Margie Lenora Hamby, 89, of Albany, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Wynfield Park Health and Rehabilitation. Graveside memorial services will be conducted at Bougainvillea Cemetery, Avon Park, FL, Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.

Born in Okeechobee, Florida, February 7, 1927 to James and Nora Flowers. Margie grew up in Avon Park, FL and graduated from Avon Park High School. She married C.W. Ellerbe in 1947 and they had 3 children and raised them in Valley, AL, where she was a homemaker for many years. Margie later moved to Valdosta, GA where she was an active member and Sunday School teacher at Northside Baptist Church. She was also involved in the local Garden Club and won numerous awards and loved providing meals for many of the elderly in the community.

Mrs. Hamby was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. Ellerbe (1980), two children, Sherri Lynn Humphrey (1986) and Anita Ellerbe Moody (2013), and two brothers, Tommy Giddens and Mack Flowers, both of Avon Park, FL.

Survivors include a son Michael Ellerbe of Hahira, GA, grandchildren, Chip (Pat) Edwards of Leesburg, GA, Sean Batson of Dallas, TX , Melissa (Austin) Grubbs, of Leesburg, GA, DJ Martin of New York, Brianna Martin of Vidalia, GA, Michael CW Ellerbe (Casey) of Valdosta, GA, great grandchildren Cody Edwards, Anna Edwards, Connor Edwards, Samuel Grubbs, and Emily Grubbs, one brother, Jerry (Sharon) Giddens of Lakeland, FL, two sisters, Wilma (Melvin) Kangeter and Nancy (JW) Hodge, both of Avon Park, FL, and one sister-in-law, Roberta Flowers of Avon Park, FL.
