Margie Marie Emmons

Margie Marie Emmons, 95, of Cordele, GA, formerly of Lee County, GA, died July 7, 2023 at Blackshear Villa in Cordele, GA.  Funeral services will be held Monday, July 10, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home.  The Reverend Galen A. Mirate will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.

Margie was born in Jackson, TN on September 18, 1927 to the late Eugene and Miranda Cherry.  She was one of eight children and graduated from Westview High School in Martin, TN.  Margie was a military wife, mother and homemaker.  She and her family moved to Albany, GA in 1968 for her husband to complete his military career.  She moved to Lee County, GA in 1997 and remained there until moving to Cordele, GA.

Margie was one of the founding members of St. Alban’s Anglican Church and served on the Vestry.  She enjoyed crocheting, working the Election Polls and taking care of her family. Margie was preceded in death by her late husband, John Edwards Emmons.

Survivors include her children, Andy (Cathy) Emmons of Leesburg, GA, Brian (Sheila) Emmons of Americus, GA and Nancy (Steve) Moye of Cobb, GA, her grandchildren, Jason Emmons of St. Augustine, FL, Chanda Emmons of Fort Valley, GA, Georgia Emmons of Americus, GA, Daniel Emmons of Macon, GA, Miranda (Ben) Gibson of Warner Robins, GA, Bryce Moye of Lee County, GA and Grason Moye of Athens, GA and his great-grandchildren, Levi Jarriel, Eliana Emmons, Hannah Lambert, Toccoa Landers, Amelia Gibson and Bennett Gibson.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
