Margaret Eugenia Whitaker Creel

Margaret Eugenia Whitaker Creel, 85, of Albany, GA passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Suggs will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Born in Damascus, GA on January 4, 1938, Mrs. Creel attended the Miller County School System only attending school thru 10th grade.  She worked at sewing factory, then later at McCollum Cleaners until 1963.  After 1963 she was a homemaker for the remainder of her life.  She was a mother and Granny to everyone she met.  She was great cook and loved decorating for any holiday.  Her family was her pride and joy.  She loved the Lord with her whole heart and always made sure her children and grandchildren knew the Lord as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garnie E. Whitaker and Amelia Kelly Whitaker, her husband, Gerald T. Creel, sister, Helen Shippey and three grandchildren, Heather LeAnn Shipley, Charles William Hauseler, Carrie LeAnn Lang and two great-grandchildren, Zackery Keene and Jaxx White.

Survivors include her children, Theresa K. Prietz (Terry), Albany, GA, Connie L. Hauseler (Kirby), Arabi, GA, brother, Billy D. Whitaker (Amy), Leesburg, GA , sister, Betty A. Scott, Albany, GA, grandchildren, Geoffrey Shipley (Angie), Jami Grooms (PJ), Jason Prietz (Shemille), Justin Prietz (Hope), Holly McClain (John), Heather Biagianti (Antony), Chris White (Robyn), Justin Hauesler (April), Robbie Hauseler and Valerie Hauseler, twenty seven great-grandchildren including, Travis Shipley, Trevor Shipley and Emma Grooms, and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
