Marcelina "Rita" Ilan Allen

Marcelina “Rita” Allen, 83, of Albany passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at Wynfield Park Health and Rehab.  Her funeral service will be Monday, December 18, 2017 at 12 Noon at Andersonville National Cemetery.

A native of the Philippines, Mrs. Allen had lived in Albany since 1969.  In her lifetime she was a big-band singer, artist, avid gardener, consummate mother, and an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing her native delicacies for friends and family.  She was a familiar face among those on the Marine Corps Logistics Base and at local school sporting events.

Survivors include her children Aaron Allen (Tara) of Albany, Arlina Wheeler (Calvin) of Albany, Allarea Longley (David) of Covington, WA, April Allen of Albany, Alida Wyatt (Doug) of Leesburg, 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and a host of nieces and nephews. Her husband, Arthur Allen, was a Naval veteran and preceded her in death.
