Mandell D. Dorminy

Mandell D. Dorminy, 87, of Leesburg, GA died Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his daughter’s residence in Bainbridge, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. William E. (Butch) Knight will officiate. Interment will follow in Poulan City Cemetery, Poulan, GA.

Born in Worth Co., GA, Mr. Dorminy was  a graduate of Bridgeboro High School and had resided in the Albany, GA and the Leesburg, GA area all of his adult life. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. as their warehouse foreman and was employed with Haverty’s Furniture Co. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. Dorminy and Gertrude Willis Dorminy, a son, Delvin M. Dorminy, brother, Gene Dorminy and a sister and her husband, Joyce Bowen and Wallace Bowen. He was a member of the Legacy Sunday School Class and First Baptist Church of Albany, GA.

He is survived by his close and very much loved friend, JoAnn Kitchens,  a son, Bruce Dorminy (Virginia), daughter, Pam Flowers (Frank), four sisters, Gloria Teal, Betty Sue Hall (Jimmy),  Deanie Bell, Hattie Tennison (Carroll), sister-in-law, Gloria Dorminy, seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was one of those Burger King breakfast guys. He would pick up his special friend, Kenny Sproul every morning and take him to Burger King to meet their BK buddies.
