Mamie Maude Watford Cook

Mamie Maude Watford Cook, 75, of Albany, GA, died August 31, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Albany.  Rev. Thad Haygood, Rev. Scott Stanfill, Rev. Hunter Pugh, Rev. Julianna Cooper and Dr. Matt Mobley will officiate.  A private interment service will follow on Tuesday at Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Screamer, AL, born to the late Henry and Lula bell Watford, Mrs. Cook attended school in Abbeville, AL and graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1959.  She graduated from Troy College with a Bachelor of Science Degree and moved to Albany, GA in December of 1962.  Mrs. Cook and her late husband, James C. Cook, Sr. (1939-1998) both were employed with the Dougherty County School System and she retired in 2001 from Albany High School.  She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Albany, was a member of the Choir and the George Cochran Sunday School Class.  She was also active in the OLELO’S.  Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Arthur Watford and a son-in-law, Glen L. Pugh.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Carla Pugh of Montgomery, AL, two sons, Jace (Rachel) Cook of Los Angeles, CA and Michael Jeff Cook of Albany, GA, her siblings, Judy (Fred) Tye and Winnie (Dan) Landsverk all of Screamer, AL, Joe (Rebecca) Watford of Newville, AL, Kathy (Max) Mobley of Abbeville, AL and Laurie (Jay) Wrenn of Dothan, AL, her four grandchildren, Rev. Evan Hunter Pugh of Dothan, AL, Tyler Mitchell Cook of Humble, TX, Hillary Glen (Cory) Eckstein  of Auburn, AL and Ryder Henry Cook of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM Monday before the service at First United Methodist Church of Albany.
