Mabel Marchant Purvis Horne, 96, of Albany, GA, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Andy Taunton will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
A native of Tift County, GA, Mrs. Horne had lived most of her life in Albany, GA. She was retired from Coats and Clark, a member of Raleigh White Baptist Church where she was a member of the Esther Sunday School Class, The Golden Key Club and NGO Club. Mrs. Horne was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Marchant and Eugenia Denby Marchant, father of her children, Ruben Otis Purvis, two sons, Walter Bennett Purvis and Raymond James Purvis, Sr., a grandson, Raymond James Purvis, Jr., six sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Glinda Purvis Roberts (Ken) of Andersonville, GA, Wesley B. Purvis (Faye) of Leesburg, GA, Cheryl Purvis Teal of Americus, GA and Walter K. Purvis (Brenda) of Leesburg, GA; two daughters-in-law, Mable Purvis of Albany, GA and Martha Ann Purvis of Tifton, GA; four adopted grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
