Mrs. Lynn Seely Gillespie Bishton, 84, of Albany died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Reverend Mark Jones and Reverend James Bullion will officiate.
Mrs. Bishton was born on November 9, 1926 in St. Petersburg, Florida. She moved to Albany as a child and lived here the rest of her life. She was a 1943 graduate of Albany High School and a graduate of the University of Alabama. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
Mrs. Bishton taught school at Palmyra Elementary before pursuing her dream of a becoming an interior designer. She graduated from the New York School of Art and returned to Albany and started Gillespie Interiors, where for many years was a renown decorator and businesswoman. She sold her business in 1984 and retired. Gee, as she was called by her grandchildren, loved
her family, friends, and the Atlanta Braves.
Mrs. Bishton was preceded in death by her parents, A.L. and Corinth Seely, her first husband. H.H. (Gil) Gillespie, her sister, Annette Seely Smith and her brother, A. Brandon (Bugar) Seely.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Bishton, Albany; her son, Hill (Mary) Gillespie of Albany; her daughter, Lucy (Chuck) Richardson of Macon; grandchildren Jill (Davis) Gillespie King; Gil Gillespie of Albany; Page (Euan) Persons Munro of Norwich, England; Benton Persons of Chicago, Illinois.
A special thanks to her loving caregivers; Dorothy, Weezie, Ruby, and Evelyn.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
