Lucinda Toson Payton, 76, of Albany, GA, died March 10, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Dan James will officiate.
A native of Newton, GA, born to Freddie Lee Toson and the late Alma MacFarland Toson, Mrs. Payton moved to Albany, GA in 1964. She was a homemaker and was employed by Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital as a Practical Nurse before her retirement. Mrs. Payton was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Charles Alton Payton, Sr. and a sister, Rhoda Willis.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Phyllis and Gregory Lewis of Lizella, GA, four sons, Charles Payton, Jr, Michael Payton and his wife, Sherry, Kenneth Payton, and James Payton and his wife, Zandra all of Albany, GA, her siblings, Aquilla Toson, Alma Willis, Laverne McRoy and her husband, Samuel, Betsy Riley, Jewell Toson, Ruby Toson, Freddie L. Toson, Jr. and Johnny Toson all of Albany, GA, her grandsons, Curtis Boston, Jr. and his wife, Portia, Michael Payton, Jr., Jamare Payton, Brandon Boston, Krishawn Harris and Zachery Payton all of Albany, GA, Kenneth J. Stowe of Tampa, FL, Jarvis Payton of Macon, GA and Jaymerson Payton of Atlanta, GA, two granddaughters, Brittany Smith of Atlanta, GA and Latasha Spurlin of Albany, GA, a great-granddaughter, Savanna Boston, a host of nieces and nephews, and a close family friend, Brashonda Worthy.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, one hour before the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
