Lucille Smith Leland

Lucille Smith Leland, 91, of Albany, GA, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 10, 2017, at 3:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Chad Ellis will officiate.

Born in Chowchilla, CA, Mrs. Leland spent most of her adult life in the Springfield and Eugene area of Oregon. She was a homemaker and attended Gillionville Baptist Church. She recently received Jesus as her Lord and Savior, so she is now in heaven. She loved animals, flowers, and playing bingo and card games, as well as traveling. She was dearly loved by her family and friends. Mrs. Leland was preceded in death by her son Charles Foster, husband James Howard Smith, and a sister Imelda Bibler.

Survivors include her six children Carolyn Pierce of Springfield, OR, Sharon Reckis of Lacey, WA, Larry Peterson and his wife Mary of Chahalis, WA, Vy Georgulas of London, England, Margi Wiest and her husband Bill of Carmel, CA, and Della Elzie and her husband Dan of Lee County, GA, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
