Louise Hancock

Louise Jones Hancock, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Sebring, Florida, at the age of 92. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Mathews Funeral Home with interment to follow in Bronwood City Cemetery. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.

Born on October 1, 1932, in the warm community of Tifton, Georgia, Louise's life was a testament to the strength of family, faith, and the enduring power of a nurturing spirit.

After completing her high school education, she ventured into the world with a heart full of dreams and aspirations. The year 1950 marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership when she married her beloved husband, Robert Hancock. Together, they built a family that would be her pride and joy for all her days.

The Hancock family tree flourished under Louise's tender care, with branches extending through her cherished sons, Donald Hancock (Gina Smith), Dr. Michael Hancock (Janet), and Larry Hancock (Tammie). Her legacy continued to grow with the joyous addition of six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, each of whom was a precious jewel in the crown of her life.

Louise's professional journey as an accountant for the USDA reflected her meticulous nature and her commitment to serving her community. Her skill with numbers was matched only by her ability to cultivate beauty and life in her garden. With an amazing green thumb, Louise could revive even the most wilted of plants, mirroring her ability to uplift those around her.

The United Methodist Church in Bronwood, Georgia, was not only a place of worship for Louise but also a second home where she was actively involved and where her Methodist faith was nurtured and shared

Louise's roots in Omega, Georgia, remained an integral part of her identity even after she moved to Florida. The values she carried from her hometown, where she grew up with three brothers and two sisters, were reflected in her loving, kind, and friendly nature – attributes that endeared her to all who had the privilege of crossing her path.

A true matriarch, Louise placed her family at the center of her universe. Her love for her family was a constant, unwavering force that guided her through life's many seasons. She was the heart of family gatherings, the keeper of traditions, and the source of endless support and encouragement for her loved ones.

As we bid farewell to Louise Jones Hancock, we celebrate a life richly lived and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire generations to come. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her spirit will forever bloom in the gardens she so lovingly tended.
