Lonnie Mike Summerlin, 72, of Leesburg, GA., died Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Willson Hospice House as the result of a heart attack. Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home and immediate follow in procession to Leesburg Cemetery for a graveside service. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.
Lonnie was a member of Westover High School's first graduating class. He was happily married for more than 51 years to his high school sweetheart Debbie. After high school he served in the United States Army. He continued to proudly serve his country as a civilian employee at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany Georgia where after many years he retired. Lonnie was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #1285.
Lonnie loved to go to Biloxi with his brother Ray when he wasn't passing time with family and friends in his garage also known as the "fall-out" shelter. Debbie and Levi, the family pet, were always by his side.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents G.H. and Gladys Summerlin, brothers Robert Summerlin and Charles Summerlin and a niece Peggi Bivens.
Lonnie is survived by his wife Deborah Denby Summerlin, his brothers, Fred Summerlin (Glenda) and Ray Summerlin, his sisters, Mary Lois Clark (David) and Diane Combs (Ken), and lots of nieces, nephews and many other loving family members.
Lonnie was always happy, carefree and loving life. If he were here today he would say, "Don't mourn my death but celebrate my life".
