Lois Clayton Chavers

Lois Clayton Chavers, 81, of Albany, GA passed away Friday, October 11, 2024 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday October 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. David Postlewaite will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery, Cordele GA.

Born in Rochester, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Chavers was a graduate of Lee University and was retired from MCLB after a long career. She was a member of Harvest Temple Church of God (Life Church), Albany, GA where she was an organist and vocalist. She presently attended First Free Will Baptist Church, Albany, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward Clayton and Erdis Braziel Clayton and siblings, Charles Clayton, Sandra Clayton Carver and nephew Mark Clayton.

She is survived by her husband, Les Chavers, Albany, GA, step-son, Robert Allen Chavers, Independence, MO, Sister-In-Law, Dianne Clayton, Albany, GA, nephews Michael and Phillip Clayton, Albany, GA, nephew, Richard Carver (Jennifer) and their children, Christian, Andrew, Matthew, Rachel, Rebecca, Aaron and Mary of Andrews, NC, nieces, Stephanie Carver Hughes (Richie) Bobbie Ray (Don) of Andalusia, AL., Linda Hartin (Wayne), and their daughters, Kaleigh Hughes, Cleveland, TN and Halle Hughes Goss (Michael), Cartersville, GA .

Music will be provided by her cousins Sheryl Powell McCoy, Cordele, GA and Wanda Fitzgerald, Milledgeville, GA. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home
