Lizzie Belle Griner, 97, of Albany, GA, died November 7, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Willis and Rev. Gary Dougherty will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A native of Tift County, GA born to the late William and Mattie Ross, Mrs. Griner grew up in Ty Ty, GA and graduated from Ty Ty High School. She and her late husband, Lawrence Griner moved to Albany, GA from Nashville, GA in 1947 and she was employed with Coates and Clark for thirty nine years.
Mrs. Griner was a member of Mercedes Baptist Church, the Joy Sunday School Class and the Golden Key Club. She enjoyed working in the yard and Gardening.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Ralph Gay of Albany, GA, a granddaughter and her husband, Penni and Gary Dougherty of Pensacola, FL, a great-granddaughter and her husband, Suzanne and Steve Schumann of Fayetteville, NC, two great-great-grandchildren, Silas Schumann and Smith Schumann and a sister-in-law, Christine Ross of Albany, GA. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring nurses and aides at Willson Hospice House.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at Mathews Funeral Home.
