Linn J. Leitner, 89, of Albany, GA, formerly of Okmulgee, OK, died October 29, 2016 at Pruitt-Palmyra Health Care. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 6:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Brooks will officiate. Interment will follow Thursday at Brevard Memorial Park Cemetery in Cocoa, FL.
He was born in Indiahoma, OK, to the late William and Pearl Leitner and grew up in Chattanooga, OK, where he graduated from High School. Mr. Leitner joined the United States Navy in 1945 and served during the Korean War.
In 1956, he received his BS Degree in Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and his MBA from Florida State University in 1967. Mr. Leitner worked as an Aerospace Engineer for Convair /General Dynamics with NASA at Cape Canaveral until 1969. He spent the last 20 years of his career as a contract administrator for General Electric in Syracuse, NY before retiring to Okmulgee, OK. He and his wife had been living with his son and daughter-in-law in Albany, GA for the last ten years and was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Cleburn Leitner and his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Martha Leitner all of Albany, GA, a daughter, Sharon Franz and her husband, Roger of Sacramento, CA and five grandchildren, Jason Leitner of Oklahoma City, OK, Paige Brooks and her husband, Mike of Kansas City, MO, Lindy Leitner of Pensacola, FL, Tommy Jacobson and Stephanie Jacobson both of Sacramento, CA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
