On August 19, 2017, Addison Lindsey Short, 23, lost his battle with addiction. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Ministry Center of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. William Collins, Rev. Bruce Pittman and Rev. John Spencer will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Church. Lindsey was born in Albany, GA on December 15, 1993 and was raised in Shellman, Albany and Lee County. He attended Sherwood Christian Academy and graduated from Deerfield Windsor School. Lindsey was a confident, athletic, and talented young man. He had a kind heart, a caring personality and a smile that would light the room. He was a ball player and a lover of the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish. He participated in Dixie League Baseball, travel baseball, Middle School and High School athletics. After High School, he attended Gordon State College and Brewton-Parker College where he was on the baseball team. After college, Lindsey pursued his passion for music. When he picked up his father’s guitar at the age of eight, he said he wanted to be a baseball player when he grew up but if that didn’t work out, he wanted to be a guitar player. He had an indescribable love for music and he thoroughly enjoyed sharing it with others. Lindsey was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and had been part of the Porterfield Memorial Methodist Church 9:15 Contemporary Service for two years. Survivors include his parents, Amy and David Short, his siblings, Conley Short, Sara Frances Short and Keaton Short all of Lee County, GA, his grandparents, Stewart and Barbara Short of Shellman, GA, Anita Short, Wyndy and Joseph A. (Bubber) Davis all of Lee County, GA, sister-in-law Brittany Short and a niece, Emma Lynn Short.
