Lillian Gay Boyd

Lillian Gay Boyd, 80, of Albany, GA, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Willson Hospice House. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery. Minister Doug Haught will officiate.

A native of Quitman, GA, Mrs. Boyd had resided in Albany since 1969 moving from Tallahassee, FL. She began her nursing career with Dr. John Bixler in Tallahassee, FL. When she relocated to Albany, GA she worked as a nursing house supervisor at Phoebe until 1978. She retired as an inspector of medical standards with the State of Georgia in 1995. Mrs. Boyd was a member of Beattie Road Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her parents, John Lafayette Gay, Sr. and Nancy Elizabeth Emerson Gay.

Survivors include her husband, Richard A. Boyd, Sr. of Albany, GA, a son and his wife, Richard A. Boyd, Jr. and Marcia Boyd of Leesburg, GA, a daughter and her husband, Dorothy Gore and Michael Gore of Leesburg, GA, a brother, John L. Gay, Jr. of Albany, GA, a sister, Louise Snow of Quitman, GA, four grandchildren, M. Brian Gore of Leesburg, GA, Nancy "Beth" Cox of Leesburg, GA, Steven Ransom of Columbia, SC, Lacy Boyd of Leesburg, GA and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
