Lewis W. Harris, Sr., 67, of Leesburg, GA, died July 4, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at the chapel of The Leesburg United Methodist Church. Rev. Wesley Kaylor, Rev. Mike Lyons and Rev. Lee Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the Leesburg Cemetery.
A native of Bristol, VA, born to the late Rubin and Lola Harris, Mr. Harris grew up in Bristol, TN and had lived in Lee County, GA since 1960. He attended Lee County High School and Albany Technical College. Mr. Harris was a retired Paint Contractor and was a member of The Leesburg United Methodist Church.
He was a former Lee County Commissioner and served from 2000 until 2004. Mr. Harris was also one of the founders of the Lee County Recreation Department, where he served on the board of directors and coached Little League Baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Grace Harris, a son and his wife, Lewis W. and Christy Harris, Jr , a daughter and her husband, Audrea and Guy Joiner, a sister and her husband, Patsy and Tim Fallin and four grandchildren, Austin Harris, Kendall Harris, Lauren Joiner and Chris Joiner, all of Lee County, GA.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 6, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
