Lela Mae Driver

Lela Mae Driver, 86, of Albany, GA, died September 15, 2012 at Roswell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Minister Eddie Garcia will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

A native of Blakely, GA, born to the late John Earl and Ruby Jarrett, Mrs. Driver graduated from Blakely Union High School and moved to Albany, GA in her 20's. She and her husband, Oscar Thomas Driver moved to Andersonville, GA in the early 70's and returned to Albany, GA in 1993. Mrs. Driver was an accounting manager for a department store in Albany, then worked at the United States Postal Service in Andersonville for 20 years. Most recently, she attended Lee County Church of Christ. Mrs. Driver is well remembered for her constant servant-minded spirit of generosity. She quietly fed, clothed, taught and supported countless family members and friends, and was always quick to the aide of whoever needed her most.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lianne A. Driver of Marietta, GA, two sisters, Louise Jarrett Lavender of Valdosta, GA and Susie Kate Dickerson and her husband, Cecil of Brunswick, GA, her grandchildren, Pam (Chris) Link of Eugene, OR, Tracy Clark of Dawsonville, GA, Jason (Sandi) Driver of Denver, CO, Jessica Driver and Brett Driver both of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Kelly Driver of Marietta, GA, three great-grandchildren, Ivey, Skyler and Kinley, and two sisters-in-law, Joyce (Quinn) Jarrett and Joyce (Leldon) Jarrett, both of Albany, GA. She was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas Edward Driver and Buford Alan Driver, her husband, Oscar Thomas Driver, two brothers, Leldon Jarrett and Quinn Jarrett and a sister, Ann Jarrett Stewart.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
