Lawrence E. "Larry" Skinner, Sr.

Lawrence E. “Larry” Skinner, Sr., 75, of Baconton, GA, died September 24, 2020 at his residence.  Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery.  Ross Powell will officiate.  Larry was born on May 20, 1945 at the West Point, NY Hospital to Eugene Augustus Skinner and Shirley Edwards Skinner.  He was a military brat and the family moved from Hawaii to Albany in 1961.  Larry graduated from Albany High School in 1963.  He was a Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic and retired from Delco Remy after twenty years.  Larry was a Baptist by faith and was a member of the local UAW # 2082.  He enjoyed going on cruises, going to Vegas and other venues. He also enjoyed working in his yard, hunting, fishing, and NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Conilia Bowden Skinner.  Survivors include his children, Lawrence E. “Larry” Skinner, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and his daughter, Donna (Bobby J.) Cannon, Jr. of Crestview, FL, his partner, Teresa Cannon of Baconton, GA, two brothers, Alan (Elizabeth) Skinner of Lee County, GA and Gene Skinner of Worth County, GA, four grandchildren, Jessica R. (Alex) Blake of Rome, GA, Lawrence E. “Larry” Skinner, III of Phoenix, AZ, Emily (Brad) Harrell of Mitchell County, GA and Bobby “B.J.” Cannon III of Crestview, FL and two great-grandchildren, Wesson Harrell and Archer Harrell.
