Lavern Andrew Kistler

Lavern Andrew Kistler, 84, of Albany, GA, died Friday, May 11, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 13, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Joey Cannon will officiate. Interment will follow at the Leesburg Cemetery.

A native of Rockingham, NC., Mr. Kistler has resided in Albany since 1974. He worked in the railroad industry and retired from CSX after forty years of service. Mr. Kistler served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a past master of Dougherty Lodge #591 F&A.M., a 32 degree KCCH Scottish Rite mason, a KYCH York Rite mason, a past Worthy Patron of Crepe Myrtle Order of the Eastern Star #163, and a member of the Red Cross of Constantine. Mr. Kistler served as the second district custodian of the Grand Lodge of Georgia for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faye Kistler, a son, Dean L. Kistler, and a sister, Helen Crouch.

Survivors include his son, Andy Kistler (Robin) of Moultrie, GA., a daughter in law, Sheila Hudgins Kistler of Dandridge, TN., his grandchildren, Nikki Lacey (Rick) of Jefferson, GA., Andrew Kistler (Megan) of Alpharetta, GA and Matthew Kistler of Dandridge, TN., two great-grandchildren, Casen and Ansley Lacey of Jefferson, GA, a sister, Billie Barton (Jim) of Augusta, GA, a special friend, Jeanne MacMinn of Albany, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donation in memory of Mr. Kistler to Dougherty Lodge #591 F&A.M. P.O. Box 591 Leesburg, GA 31763 or Shriners Hospitals for Children c/o Hasan Transportation Fund, 1822 Palmyra Rd., Albany, GA, 31701.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
