Laurence Moody, 95, of Albany, GA, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Don Adams will officiate. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fort Valley, GA at 4:30 p.m. Dr. Don Adams and Rev. Danny Stubbs officiating.
A native of Knoxville, GA, Mr. Moody had resided in Albany, GA, since 1954 moving from Macon, GA. He was a retired engineer with Southern Railroad and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Albany, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Floyd Armstrong Moody and his daughter, Elizabeth Gail Howard.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Floyd Moody and Daphne, Cherokee Co., GA, a son-in-law, Jim Howard, Ankeny, IA, five grandchildren, Rick Howard, Des Moines, IA, Jill Howard Wilson, Naples, FL, Heather Howard Knight, Polk City, IA, Tristan Moody, Canton, GA, Sarabeth Moody, Kennesaw, GA, four great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Katherine Moody of Fort Valley, GA.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
