Latrelle Louise Moore, 82, of Albany, GA died Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 am at First Freewill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. David Postlewaite and Rev. Mark Walker will officiate.
Born in Moultrie, GA to Robert E. and Evie L. May MacPhail, Latrelle was raised in Doerun, GA, graduating from Doerun High School in 1959. She met and married Jim Moore in 1961 and moved to Albany, GA. Latrelle was employed with Porter Paint Company as a Decorator for many years.
Latrelle went back to school, graduating from Georgia Southwest University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education. During her career, she taught at Albany High School and Sherwood Christian School. She and Jim moved to Trenton, GA in 1995 and she taught at Dade County High School until returning to Albany in 2014.
Latrelle was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church and in her free time, Latrelle enjoyed gardening, doting on her grandchildren, reading, and Bible Study. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Melvin Moore.
Survivors include her children, James Douglas “Doug” (Lynda) Moore of Waynesboro, GA and Susan Moore (Mark) Powell of Alhaurin de la Torre, Spain, a sister, Joan Everett of Baton Rouge, LA, a brother, Rodney MacPhail of St. Petersburg, FL and her grandchildren, Meredith Powell (David Santos) of Alhaurin de la Torre, Spain, Mark Evan (Sarah) Powell of Harrisonburg, VA, Ethan McKay Powell (Deborah Widmer) of Kandern, Germany, James Trenton (Julia) Moore of Augusta, GA and Addison Layne Moore of Waynesboro, GA.
The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am before the service at First Freewill Baptist.
