Lambert Joseph Suess 86 years old, passed away October 29, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Hospital. A private family service was held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Crown Hill.
Lambert was born in Buckman, Minnesota. His parents are the late Frank and Catherine Suess. He was raised on a family farm that included a dairy. They also hunted and fished for meat and furs to sale to provide for the family. Lambert joined the Navy in 1951 and served 4 years during the Korean Conflict. He met his wife in Sanford, Florida while on tour of duty before moving to Albany with his Georgia Peach. After the Navy he attended 4 years of carpentry/furniture building school during the G.I. bill era. He later formed Lambert Suess Construction Company in 1960 in Albany with the help of his dear late friend Murray Webb.
He built over 600 homes in Albany, Leesburg, Dawson and surrounding counties during his 50 plus years as a builder and continued to work with his sons until he was in his 80's .He never considered his work a job and most of his clients became his friends, building them additional homes over the years.
Lambert was also a man of the land and an avid hunter and fisherman and owned several farms in Terrell and Lee Counties where he hunted on his land and fished in his ponds and creeks. He was a crack shot and was known as an expert turkey caller, often calling in Toms that other hunters had given up on for the season. He grew a big garden every year and spent many days delivering to his friends' homes to make sure they had fresh produce.
He was a lifetime member of St Teresa's Catholic Church, the American Legion, Boys Sheriff Association, Ducks Unlimited, Boys Town, and the Wild Turkey Federation.
Lambert loved his family and the land which gave him the most pleasure. He was proceeded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife Marylene Suess, daughter Diane Kelly {David}, son, Greg Suess {Tammie} son, Gerald Suess, two grandchildren, Kristen Stevens {Trent}, David Kelly {Ann}, and his brother Fritz Suess of St Cloud, Minnesota and his favorite Grand-dog "Si."
