Kim Kromschroeder Price was born on July 26, 1960, in Albany, GA to Suzanne Leach Hartin and Grady Etheredge. She slipped away peacefully on September 9, 2023, at 11:40 p.m., with those who mattered to her the most at her bedside.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:00 pm at The Walden Chapel of First Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Morrow, Rev. Anna Miller and Dean Staton will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at First Methodist Church.
Kim was educated in Dougherty County Schools.
Kim was predeceased by her grandparents, John and Christine Leach and an uncle, Speck Leach; also, a son, Quinton James Price. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and soulmate, James “Spider” Price; her mother and stepfather, Reggie and Suzanne Leach Hartin; sisters Chris Etheredge and Tamie Williams; and her daughter, Samantha Price.
Kim had a simply amazing career that took her all over the United States. She and her co-workers were responsible for planning and building the steel structures that make up the skeleton of a building. Kim began what would be a 30-year career with Fluor Enterprises (Daniels) in 1979. She began with Fluor’s Vocational School, where she learned to weld pipe. After five or so years, Kim moved on to be a structural iron worker, then progressed to the title of rigging foreman, learning all along the way and excelling at each step. Next step was an equipment expeditor, then millwright foreman, and onto a stint as a field engineer (as foreman). Kim worked next with Fluor’s structural engineering department, ensuring with vendors that she had the proper structural equipment to do the steel erections. She conducted fabrication meeting with clients, vendors, and owners.
Kim worked in nuclear power plants, set equipment at Proctor and Gamble here in Albany, and worked on buildings all over our country. Kim entered a male-dominated field in which she was always the only female. With her ready willingness to work long, hard hours; with her superior knowledge; and with her ability to get along with everyone, Kim earned the respect of the men around her. Upon her initial cancer diagnosis in 2015, Kim retired. Her cancer in remission, she went back to work for one last job, in Decatur, AL. For that job, she was given the title that had always eluded her simply because she was a female: structural ironworker general foreman.
Kim and her husband, James “Spider” Price, met as soulmates 30 years ago. Each was helpmeet to the other, pushing each other to higher and higher ground, moving from strength to strength. The couple married on July 31, 2012. They worked the same jobs together, played together, and generally enjoyed life together. Both enjoyed motorcycles and working in their yard-and they did it all together.
In 2020, Kim’s cancer recurred. Both she and Spider retired and came home to the Leesburg/Albany area. Spider took tender care of his soulmate until the end. Her beloved mother and sisters, with whom she had a strong family bond, were at Kim’s bedside, as well.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
