Kenneth Gerald Kimbrel, 64, of Leesburg, GA, died Tuesday August 26, 2014 at his residence. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sherwood Baptist Church. Rev. David Smith will officiate.

Born in Arlington, GA on October 2, 1949, Kenneth had resided in Leesburg since 1979. Kenneth was a graduate of Dougherty High School, Darton College and received his paramedic degree from Valdosta State College.

His hobbies were, traveling to Alaska and the mountains, hiking, and enjoyed football, baseball and nascar. He was employed with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for eighteen years, Dougherty County EMS for twenty five years, Lee County EMS for thirteen years and Baker County EMS for fifteen years and was an athletic trainer for five years at Albany State College as well as a master gardener. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, A. J. Kimbrel and Lois Mainor Kimbrel. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal savior and was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret D. Kimbrel of Leesburg, GA, a daughter, Tammy Renee Roberts, Donaldsonville, GA, a son, Christopher "Chris" Gerald Kimbrel, Albany, GA and five sisters, Sherry Page, Albany, GA, Jackie Alcorn, Leesburg, GA, Pam Boyd, Valdosta, GA, Renee Evans, Atlanta, GA, Gloria Teano, Jacksonville, FL and his step-mother, Sarah Kimbrel Weeks, Ft. Gaines, GA.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
