Dr. Kenneth Martin (Kenny) Waldrop, 66, died August 30, 2012 at Willson Hospice following a brief illness. A memorial service is planned for Monday, September 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Dr. Waldrop was a native of Tifton, GA, born August 13, 1946 to the late Julius Gilbert and Naomi Ruth McAllister Waldrop. He moved to Albany as a child and graduated from Albany High School in 1964. He attended Clemson University on a baseball scholarship and transferred to the University of Georgia where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. In 1971 he graduated from the University of Georgia's School of Veterinary Medicine.
He began his career in Tallahassee, FL and later opened Albany Animal Clinic from which he retired several years ago. Kenny was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and diving and his adventurous spirit led him all over the world. He was an active member of Tri-State Archeological Society of Georgia and Sunshine State Archeological Society of Florida. His collection of relics and artifacts was famous.
He is survived by his daughters, Skyler Waldrop Minter (Josh) of Atlanta, GA and Lindsay Waldrop of Seattle, WA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Albany Humane Society where he volunteered his services for many years, P.O. Box 3151, Albany, GA 31706.
