Keith B. Hopson

Keith B. Hopson, 53, of Lee County, GA, died May 14, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Kerry Reeves and Rev. Steve Williams will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Bethel Cemetery in Monticello, FL.

A native of Monticello, FL Keith graduated in 1981 as the Salutatorian from Jefferson County High School while attending North Florida Junior College. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served for twenty years before retiring in 2001 as Chief Petty Officer.

He moved to the Albany area the same year and was employed with Cooper Tire Co. and Merck Chemical. Keith joined the Miller-Coors Brewing Co. in 2005 and was serving as their Learning and Development Specialist. He enjoyed autocross racing and scuba diving. Keith was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church where he played trumpet in the church orchestra.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel A. Hopson of Lee County, GA, four children, Robert Martin of Albany, GA, Amber Simpson and her husband, Trevor of Silverdale, WA, Matthew Hopson of Lee County, GA and Allison Nicole "Ally" Forbess of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, his parents, Roy and Edna Hopson of Monticello, FL, a brother, Tim Hopson and his wife, Dawn of Williston, FL, a sister, Tammy Helms and her husband, Lloyd of Monticello, FL, two grandchildren, Tyler Martin and Ethan Martin and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Mathews Funeral Home.

Keith will lie in state one hour before the funeral at Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
