Kathryn Rose Hayes

Kathryn Rose Hayes, 74, of Leesburg, GA, died August 23, 2023 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.  Rev. Steve Williams will officiate.  The family will have a private interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Glen Dora, CA, Kathryn grew up in Bryan, TX and moved to Albany, GA in 1971.  She graduated from Albany Technical College and served as the Administrative Assistant for The Dougherty County Assistant District Attorney.

Kathryn also served as the Administrative Assistant for the Albany Police Department-Uniform Division for twenty-six years of service.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening and participating on the City Bowling League.  Special enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Betty Sherrets Richie and a brother-in-law Jim Griffin

Survivors include her children, Tracy (Pete) Holt of Lee County, GA, Chris Hayes of Panama City, FL and Catina (Jay) Cross of Lee County, GA, her siblings, Kenneth (Pat) Richie of Hudson, WI and Rae Griffin  of Villa Rica, GA, four grandchildren, Ellie Holt, Mel Mullen, Gracyn Holt and Gabe Mullen and one great-granddaughter, Harper Mullen.

Kathryn was able to be a blessing to others after her death by donating her eyes to help others see.
