Junior Oliver

Edward Junior Oliver, 72, of Albany, GA, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashburn, GA. Rev. Mark Rowe will officiate.

A native of Ashburn, Junior was born to the late Isaac E. and Ruby A. Johnson Oliver. He moved to the Albany area at seven years of age, and had worked his adult life as a farmer. Junior was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam and was a member of Beacon Baptist Church and loved playing country music on his guitar, singing and sitting on the porch. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Willie Mae Tennille and Mary Lee Tennille.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Knight Oliver, Albany, GA, his daughters, Melissa Barksdale and her husband Jeff, Bronwood, GA, Amanda Dahn and her husband Chris, Mitchell County, GA, his nephew, Greg Tennille and wife Robin, Tallahassee, FL, grandchildren, Brianna Minnick, Albany, GA, Haley Flournoy, Lee County, GA and Kenny Flournoy, Mitchell Co., Shelby Fender, Ashburn, GA, Mason Jones, Mitchell Co., his great grandchildren, Colton Fender and Bentley Gage Hooper, many family and friends and his special companions, Lulu and Axel.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mathews Funeral Home.
