Julian Foye Moncus, 93, of Leesburg, GA died April 9, 2018 at his residence. Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Floral Memory Garden Cemetery. Rev. Ken Chancellor will officiate. The American Legion Post #30 will provide Military Honors and serve as pallbearers.
Born in Parrott, GA, to Charlie and Mary Lou Moncus, Mr. Moncus was raised in Terrell County, GA and graduated from Parrott High School. He served in The Army Air Corps during World War II. After his service he farmed for a short time and worked for thirty-four years for Watkins Lumber Company.
Mr. Moncus was a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elk and Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #30 and served along with his wife on the Honor Guard. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Moncus, two sons, Tommy Moncus and Keith Moncus, and a grandson Steven (Goose) Moncus.
Survivors include his wife, Reba A. Moncus, Leesburg, GA, his daughter, Debbie Daughtry and her husband Eric, Lee County, GA, six step-children, Denzil Harrell (Melba), Lee County, GA, Linda Presson, Myrtle Beach, SC, Donny Harrell (Donna), Colloden, GA, Rodney Harrell (Jill), Lee County, GA, Sue Sharman, Savannah, GA, Troy Allen (Barbara), Albany, GA, a daughter-in-law, Mary Evelyn Moncus of Plains, GA and ten grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
