Judson Chester Banks

Judson Chester “Chet” Banks, Jr., 74, of Albany, GA, passed away September 6, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Sherwood Baptist Church in the Chapel.  Rev. John Spencer and Mr. Ross Powell will officiate and interment will follow in Pelham City Cemetery, Pelham, GA.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm in the Atrium at Sherwood.

Born in Cotton, GA, Chet had resided in Albany since 1957 and was a graduate of Albany High School class of 1961.  Chet was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 and served two years during the Vietnam War. Chet was a member of Sherwood where he served as an usher and was a member of the Encouragers Sunday School Class.  He also was a member of The Gideon’s International and the Corvette Club of Albany.

Chet was preceded in death by his parents, Judson C. Banks and Anne Lee Banks; and his sister, Alice Ann Banks Hollcroft. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Simpson Banks; a son and daughter-in-law, Judson C. Banks III and Anne Banks; two grandchildren, Gavin and Kylie Banks; a brother-in-law, Clarence David Hollcroft, Jr.; two nephews, Henry Gordon Davis IV and Clarence David Hollcroft III; and a niece, Heather Wells.

Pallbearers will be members of The Gideon’s International.
