Joyce Cole Ellis

Joyce Cole Ellis, 88, of Leesburg, GA passed away Friday, September 1, 2023 at Columbus Hospice, Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Grady Morey will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Albert Cole and Georgia Johnson Cole, husband, Bobby Wayne (Bob) Ellis, granddaughter, Heather Jumper and great-grand daughter, Hadley Hartman and siblings, Lillian Martin, Louise Henson, Margaret Roland,  Nora Ming, Mildred Orr, Maryann Page, Earl Cole, Lucious Cole, Fred Cole.

Joyce was born and raised in Georgetown, GA, her many talents included gardening, sewing, cooking, and baking. A few of her favorite jobs were being a homemaker, teaching children, and working in the food and hospitality business. Above all, she loved her Lord, her family and her friends. She was the very definition of a southern lady.

Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Conkle, Gulf Shores, AL, Sandra T. Jumper (Will), Columbus, GA, Lori T. Smith (Phillip), Leesburg, GA, Lisa T. Pollard, Albany, GA, step-daughter, Julie Ellis Burnell, Alban, GA, sisters, Jean Roland, Louvale, GA, Alice Rachel (Marty), Georgetown, GA, and Sara Faulk, Lumpkin, GA, six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Mathews Funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
