Joy Bethea Peak Glass passed away peacefully on Sun, Sept 10, 2017 in Rome, GA at 95 years of age. Funeral services will be Saturday starting at 1:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church on Oakridge Dr., Albany, GA. Rev. Jerry Deans, Rev. Al Wilbourn, Rev. Paul Wilkes, and Rev. Damon Fountain will officiate. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church, Shellman, GA. Joy grew up on a farm near Shellman, GA. After graduating from high school she attended business school in Cuthbert, GA. She later married Harold Welton Peak and together they raised 6 children. Most of that time was spent in Birmingham, AL, but she and Welton returned to live in Albany, GA in 1965 where most of their relatives lived. She was preceded in death by her husband, Welton Peak, one son, Paul Douglas Peak, and three daughters, Nita Peak Howard, Kay Peak Shook, and Martha Peak Matthews. She is survived by son, James (Jimmy) Welton Peak, (Crystal), and daughter, Jean Peak Norton, (Buddie), several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Joy had her own bookkeeping and income tax business and did not retire from that until she turned 90. Her greatest joys were her relationship with the Lord and her family. The family will greet friends at Mathews Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday Sept 15, 2017. There will be another viewing Saturday, Sept 16, 2017 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church.
