Josie was born in Dawson, Georgia, on June 11, 1925 to the late Jeptha and Dora Bridges. She was the next-to-the-youngest in a family of seven children, all now deceased. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and took great pride in her yard but she especially enjoyed mowing grass. She could often be found on her zero-turn mower well into her eighties! Another activity she enjoyed and is still remembered for was making and selling divinity candy through local stores. She was a great seamstress and made dresses not only for herself but for many other ladies as well.
Josie will be remembered by her family and friends as a compassionate and kind-hearted individual who touched the lives of many. She never asked for help but always gave it. She leaves behind cherished memories that will forever be treasured. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Fletcher and by her oldest son, Marvin L. Fletcher.
Josie is survived by her son, Wayne Fletcher (Judy) of Terrell County and daughter-in-law Janet Fletcher of Lee County. She is survived by five grandchildren: Mark Fletcher (Pam) of Terrell County, Brian Fletcher (Jennifer) of Lee County, Cori Fletcher of Lee County, Amanda Fletcher Jones (Wayne) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Babs Baldwin (Matt) of Lee County. Fifteen great grandchildren: Gregory Fletcher, Logan Fletcher Barlow, Bailee Fletcher, Michael Senn, Blake Fletcher, Brock Fletcher, Sarah Jones Brown, Ivy Jones, Nathan Baldwin, Jeremy Baldwin, Emma Baldwin, Ava Baldwin, Micah Baldwin, Eathan Baldwin, and Ruth Baldwin.
