Josephine Ramsey Coston

Josephine Ramsey Coston 89 of Leesburg Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at her residence at the Oaks at Oakland Plantation. Her service will be Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Crown Hill Cemetery.  Reverend Bud Womack will officiate.

Born in Altha, Florida on July 24, 1933 to Otis Edwin and Hattie Velma Ramsey. Josephine, (Jo) was the youngest in her family. Her years were spent growing up in the Ramsey Road area and attending school in Albany later the family moved to Florida where she attended Frink High School, near Blountstown, Florida, returning back to Albany where she worked in retail with Sears and JCPenney where she was the lady's merchandising manager.

While working in Albany she met the love of her life Herb Coston. They married in 1962 and raised three children Terry, Gary, and Regina. Jo, after years of retail, retired, and traveled with Herb, while he worked at several IBEW jobs throughout the southeast. Jo and Herb later in life worked a small farm in Lee County known as, Young at Heart Farm, for 20 years or more. Jo was known to cut grass for hours at the farm and wanted no help from anyone, and she would be very upset when her lawn mower wouldn't work. It was evident that Jo was a Christian in the way that she lived her life and raised her children.

She and Herb, her late husband, were members of the Albany Christian Church in Albany, pastored by a longtime friend, Freddie Welborn, and later at LifePoint Church in Americus, pastored by Bud Womack, whom they both loved like a son. Jo was preceded in death by one brother Ed Ramsey, three sisters, Eunice Long, Margie Isabel, and Doris Bruton-Lord

Survivors include her children: Terry Coston Lynch, Dothan, AL, Gary M. Coston (Pam), Leesburg, GA, Regina Coston Spence (J. Nolan), Leesburg, GA, grandchildren: M. Dax Lynch (Lauren), Dothan, AL, Lindsay Lynch Roth (Jon), Dothan, AL, G. Michael Coston (Dawn McCombs) Chelsea, AL, Jessica Coston Davis (Britt) Leesburg, GA, Kearstin Spence Alston (Blake), Bowdon, GA, Brandon N. Spence (Brandi) Dawson, GA, Great grandchildren: Gentry Lynch, Brooks Roth, Lucas Roth, Harrison Roth, Hank Davis, Sam Davis, Madison McCombs, Anna McCombs, Jack David Alston, Ramsey Grace Alston, and close family friends, Bud and Fay Womack, Kelsey Womack, Kayla Womack Dupree (Earl).

Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Mathews Funeral Home before the graveside service.
