Joseph Henry Mathis, 81, of Albany, GA, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran LCMS. Rev. Earl Steffens will officiate. Interment will follow at Andersonville Nat'l Cemetery with full military honors.
A native of Mayo, FL, Mr. Mathis had resided in Albany, GA, for the past forty two years. He was retired from the Army and later owned and operated Joe's Appliance and Refrigeration Service. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 30 and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Heathcote Mathis, Albany, GA, four daughters, Teresa Lopez, Oklahoma City, OK, Patti Jarrett and her husband Jimmy, Albany, GA, Lisa Gann and her husband Richard, Albany, GA, and Melodie Freeman and her husband Tim, Daviston, AL, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family is at the residence of Patti and Jimmy Jarrett, 114 Eight Mile Rd., Albany, GA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services at Trinity Lutheran LCMS, 1508 Whispering Pines Rd., Albany, GA and at 114 Eight Mile Rd. on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
