John H. (Johnny) Walker, 69, of Plains, GA, died September 15, 2017 at Kindred Hospice in Columbus, GA. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 4:00 pm Hasan Shrine Center. Hasan Chaplain John Jacobs will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours before the service. A native of Jacksonville, FL, Dr. Walker grew up in Waynesville, GA. He graduated from Brantley County High School in 1965 and joined the United States Navy where he served as a Navy Seal and specialized in underwater demolition. After serving his country, Dr. Walker attended and graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State College and received his Doctorate of Education from Nova SouthEastern University. He moved to Plains, GA in 2006 and taught at the Americus-Sumter Ninth Grade Academy. Dr. Walker was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. He was a member of Hinesville Lodge # 271 F & AM, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of the Valley of Albany. Dr. Walker was a member of the Hasan Shriners and was currently serving as the Potentate for 2017. Survivors include his wife, Andrea R. Walker of Plains, GA, his children, John H. (Jay) Walker, Jr., and his wife, Andrea of Lemoore, CA and Christina Walker of Plains, GA, his grandchildren, Joseph Walker of Anaheim, CA, John Henry (J.T) Walker III of Lemoore, CA and Robert Walker of Plains, GA, three sisters, Peggy Christmas of Oakmont, PA, Glenda Terpstra of Greensboro, NC and Lyndell Cooke of Allentown, PA.
