John Emmett Stewart

John Emmett Stewart, 88, of Albany, GA passed away on May 26, 2015 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 1, 2015 at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Charlie Brown and Rev. William Collins will officiate.

Mr. Stewart was born in Lee County Georgia to the late Minnie Lee Luker Stewart and Etheridge Stewart. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Stewart was retired from Lilliston Corporation having spent 30 years with this corporation and has been retired for the past 25 years. He has lived in Albany most of his 88 years. Mr. Stewart is a former member of the Albany Exchange Club and has been a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church for 62 years, working with the youth of the church for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Reba Willis Stewart and one daughter, Leslie Karen Stewart Sullivan, two grandchildren, Clay Sullivan and Mary Stewart Sullivan, all of New York City. Also surviving is a sister, Florene Stewart Sides, of Gretna, LA. His brothers, Charles Stewart and Etheridge (Jr.) Stewart, sisters, Odell
Stewart Duke, Trail Stewart and Evelyn Stewart Rounsley preceded him in death. He is survived as well by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at their home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Byne Memorial Baptist Church, Living the Legacy Building Fund and to Albany Community Hospice.

The family wishes to extend gratitude to Dr. Carl Hancock, Jr. and his nursing staff, to Dr. Jyotia Mehta and Staff and to Albany Community Hospice for their love and support in his last days.
