John Riner

J. William (Bill) Riner, 71, of Albany, GA, died March 19, 2015. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.

A native of Savannah, GA, born to the late Rev. Ralph and Edna Riner, Sr., Bill grew up in Dublin, GA. He graduated from Dublin High School and Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. He moved to Albany, GA from Vienna, GA in 1996. Bill was employed with The Georgia Power Company for thirty years and served in many capacities retiring as Area Manager.

Bill continued his career with Mitchell Electric Membership Corporation for ten years and retired as Line Crew Manager for Albany, Camilla and Sylvester. He was a member of Mt. Hope Lodge # 9 F&AM in Hawkinsville, GA, a member of Hasan Shriners in Albany, GA and was a member of and served as Exalted Ruler five times at the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Lodge # 713 in Albany, GA.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Treadaway Riner of Albany, GA, a daughter, Rebecca Roy and her fiance Kelli McLeod of Atlanta, GA, three sons, Michael Roy and his wife, Meg of Atlanta, GA, Stephen Roy and his wife, Isabelle of Greensboro, NC and Jeff Riner and his wife, Katie of Gainesville, FL, two grandchildren, Chantal Otelsberg and her husband, Elliott of Charlotte, NC and Danielle Roy of Greensboro, NC, a sister, Diane Rogers and her husband, Mike of Eatonton, GA and a grandchild, Emily Behrendsen and her husband, David of Lawrenceville, GA. Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Riner, Jr.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
