John Louis Lott, Jr

John Louis "Buddy" Lott, Jr., 70, of Albany, GA died June 7, 2017 at Lee County Health & Rehab. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home with military honors. Rev. William Collins and Rev. Brenda Crawford will officiate.

He was born in Macon, GA to the late John Louis Lott, Sr. and Mary Frances Long Lott. Buddy graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering. He moved to Albany from Smiths Station, Al 21 years ago.

He served in the US Army as a Sentry (Scout) Dog Handler. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Two Overseas Bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Rifle M-16 Medal, Sharp Shooter M-14 Medal, and Purple Heart for his service in the Army. He retired as a Manager from Michelin Tire Manufacturing. Buddy was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. He excelled in most sports in high school & received the All American award 2 years in football. He played football at The University of Alabama after being recruited by Bear Bryant. Buddy has been inducted into the Football Hall of Fame at Smiths Station High School in Smiths Station, Al.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ann Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Lucile Lott, Albany, GA, his children Ashley Radcliff Heredeen and her husband Frank, of Albany, GA, John Radcliff and his wife Sarah, of Brookhaven, GA, John Lott, III and his wife Michelle, of Columbus, GA, Heath Lott and his wife Robin, of Manchester, GA, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and four sisters, Susan Riddle, Auburn, AL, Mary Elizabeth Overman, Alpharetta, GA, Kathy Lott and Gloria Cribbs, both of Phoenix City, AL, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Bradford Court Clubhouse, 2512 Westgate Drive, Albany, GA.
