John Lewis Lane, 69, of Albany, GA died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. The United States Navy will provide military honors.
Born in Brunswick, GA, Mr. Lane had resided in Worth Co., GA and Albany, GA most all of his adult life.
He was a graduate of Crisp County High School, a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the navy and a college graduate having earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He was employed with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company as assistant labor relations manager until the closing of the plant and retired from the United States Department of the Treasury. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, John Herbert Lane, Jr. and Freida Opal Beaty Lane.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Barnette Lane, Albany, GA, a son, John Barnette (Bo) Lane and his wife,Tracy, Lee Co., GA, a daughter, Melissa (Missy) Pilgrim and her husband, Chris, Albany, GA, a sister, Sandra Lane Stewart and her husband, Billy, Albany, GA and four grandchildren, Hannah Grace Pilgrim, John Wyatt Lane, Maci Lane Pilgrim and Judson Paul Lane.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home
