John Frederick (Fred) Knowles

John Frederick (Fred) Knowles, 78, of Leesburg, GA died Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Grady Morey, Rev. Bobby Moye and Rev. Duane Logsdon will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg City Cemetery, Leesburg, GA.

Born in Randolph County, GA, Mr. Knowles had resided in Leesburg, GA for all of his adult life. He served in the National Guard, worked with Wallace Chevrolet for a number of years, before opening his company which was known as Fred's Auto Service for twenty seven years. Mr. Knowles had served as a deacon at both the First Baptist Church and at Friendship Baptist Church where he is now a member. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Marcene Knowles and Sara M. Glass Knowles, a brother, Tommy Knowles and a sister Maylene Knowles.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Knowles, Leesburg, GA, two sons, Marty Knowles and Charles Knowles and his wife Conni all of Elijay, GA, two granddaughters, Tanna Bell and her husband Cliff, Leesburg, GA, Samantha Knowles, Elijay, GA, a grandson, Cody Knowles, Savannah, GA, a great-grandson, Robert Chase Bell and great-granddaughter, Amelia Brooke Bell, both of Leesburg, GA.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
