Born to the late John and Esther Hoffpauir in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 7th, 1951, and in 1953 he moved to Baton Rouge, LA. After graduating from Broadmoor High School in 1969, he pursued further studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he made the decision to return to college and graduated from Albany State University.
He spent the majority of his life in Lee County where he worked for MLCB as a deputy public works officer for forty-four years before he retired. He was diligent and committed to serving the people he worked with for all those years. When John was not working, he enjoyed spending time outside with his family and friends. He always looked forward to going fishing or taking pontoon boat rides. John also had a love for cooking; especially low country boil and gumbo which he enjoyed making for his family gatherings. John had many projects, from small to large, and could be found building anything from squirrel feeders to handicap ramps.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-four years Gail Key Hoffpauir, two children Carrie Hoffpauir of Leesburg and John Hoffpauir III (Jennifer) also from Leesburg; step-children Robert Redmond, Michael Redmond, Cory Williams all from Santa Rosa Beach Florida; Merritt Williams of Leesburg; his grandchildren, Jakob Ranew, Ryder Morrison, Bella Morrison, John Hoffpauir IV, Walker Redmond, Hunter Redmond, Gabriel Redmond, Aubree Redmond and Sawyer Redmond.
