John C. Harris, Jr.

John C. Harris, Jr., 72, of Tallahassee, FL died Friday, August 11, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Beau Cooksey will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Mr. Harris was born in Albany, GA and had resided in Tallahassee, FL for the past forty-five years after moving from San Antonio, TX where he served in the Air Force. He retired after thirty-six years from Florida State University where he was a business manager. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. Harris, Sr. and Marguerite McNair and his sister, Marguerite Terrell. Survivors include two sons, Chuck Harris and his wife Tracy, Ryan Harris and his wife Sarah all of Tallahassee, FL, a daughter, Heather Chesnut and her husband Grant, Canton, GA, a sister, Alice Jane Harris, Albany, GA and eight grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local youth baseball league.
