John Oliver Greene, Jr.

John Oliver “Johnny” Greene, Jr., 75, of Leesburg, GA, died Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Medical University Hospital of South Carolina in Charleston, following surgery.  All friends and family are invited to attend Graveside funeral services at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson, GA.  Ross Powell will officiate.

 

Johnny was born on May 13, 1947 in Dawson, GA to the late, John Oliver and Margaret Greene, Sr.  He graduated from Terrell County High School in 1965 and attended Georgia Southwestern College.  Johnny was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson and was the co-owner of Palmyra Business Park. He loved the outdoors, children, raising and training quarter horses and his dogs, Buddy and Molly.

 

Survivors include his brother, Ed (Mary) Greene of Sasser, GA, his sister, Anne G. (Jerry) Bolton of Leesburg, GA, his nieces, Trena (Tim) Davis of Hoschton, GA, Lori Steers of Savannah, GA and Sherry (Burt) Baker of Cordele, GA, his great-nieces and great-nephews, Caroline Davis of Atlanta, GA, Lee Anne Steers of Denver, CO, Will Davis of Athens, GA, Kyle Steers of Kernersville, NC and Jonathan Baker of Augusta, GA.

 

The family will receive friends following the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

 

Those desiring may make memorials in memory of Johnny to the Humane Society of Terrell County or to your favorite charity.
