John Perry Aker

John Perry "Pete" Aker, 78, of Lee Co., GA died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 4, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Beattie Road Church of Christ. Minister Doug Haught will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.

A native of Marion, VA, Mr. Aker had resided in Albany, GA and Lee Co. since 1952. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Air Force. He was a retired self-employed upholster and was a member of Beattie Road Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Daniel Aker, Lee Co., GA, a daughter, Cindi Aker Downs, Leesburg, GA, a brother, Frank Aker, Atkins, VA, three sisters, June Testerman, Greensboro, NC, Betty Shupe and Jean Spitler both of Roanoke, VA, two grandchildren, John Downs and Nicholas Downs Leesburg, GA.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
