Joanne Reynolds Sinyard

Joanne Reynolds Sinyard, 89, of Albany, GA, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 11:00 am at Amazing Grace Baptist Church on Ledo Road in Albany. Rev. Johnny Nixon will officiate. A private family internment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Ms. Sinyard was born on December 26, 1934 in Sylvester, GA to Joe and Jimmie Reynolds. She graduated from Sylvester High School in 1953 and moved to Albany, GA where she met a young Air Force sergeant, James E. “Jimmy” Sinyard. They fell in love and married in 1954.

Ms. Sinyard joined Calvary Baptist Church in 1955 and was a very active member until its closing in 2021, at which time she, along with other members, joined Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She was employed with Key’s Department Store for over twenty years before retiring as store manager, though her most cherished titles were mother, and, as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren proudly called her, “Jo.” Ms. Sinyard enjoyed planting her garden every fall and spring, crappie fishing at Lake Eufaula, and attending gospel sings along with her late husband. Ms. Sinyard will forever be remembered by family and friends for her vibrant sense of humor and infectious laughter.

Ms. Sinyard is preceded in death by her two sisters, Mildred Geoff and Dorothy Barfield, and her beloved husband, Jimmy.

Survivors include her children, Jeff “Bodine” (Lillie) Sinyard of Albany, GA and Lecia S. (Greg) Aldridge of Panama City Beach, FL, her sister, Gwen Reynolds Knight of Albany, GA, her grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) Aldridge and Trey (Lauren) Aldridge, all of Lynn Haven, FL, Bridges (Abbey) Sinyard, Stuart (Laura) Sinyard, and Beau (Camille) Sinyard, all of Albany, GA, and her great-grandchildren, Marylou Sinyard, Libby Sinyard, Saville Sinyard, Hal Sinyard, Pinson Sinyard, Abigail Aldridge, Scarlet Aldridge, Emma Aldridge and Mason Aldridge.

The family would like to thank Ms. Sinyard’s loving caregiver, Phyllis McCray, her dedicated physicians, Dr. Chirag Jani, Dr. Adam Jones, and Dr. Laura Fay, and the passionate care teams at Phoebe Hospice and Phoebe Cancer Center. A special thanks is also extended to Ms. Sinyard’s neighbor, Kelly McCaskle, for over a decade of friendship and devotion.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Amazing Grace Baptist Church.
