Joanne Z. Carney

Joanne Z. Carney, 81, of Albany, GA, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at her residence. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Mathews Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m.

Born in Toledo. OH, Mrs. Carney had resided in Albany, GA since 1968 moving from Brazil. She was a member of Friends of The Parks of Chehaw, The Albany Symphony, Theater Albany, Albany Museum of Art, Thronateeka Heritage Museum, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital volunteer for thirty five years and the American Cancer Society. She received the Albany Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Year award for 2002 and received the Albany Volunteer of the Year for 2003 for dedication and loyalty in the category of community service. Mrs. Carney was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of fifty eight years, John Joseph Carney, Albany, GA, two sons, Jeffery A. Carney, (Pauline), Phoenix, AZ, Steve W. Carney, Jacksonville, FL, two daughters, Linda A. Carney and Alicia L. Roos both of Albany, GA and five grandchildren.
