JoAnn M. Kitchens

Mrs. JoAnn McClelland Kitchens, 83, died August, 25, 2023 at her home. Funeral services to be held at Byne Baptist Church Saturday, at 10:00 am. Rev. Hal Pinson and Matthew Tanner will officiate.  The family will receive friends and family at Byne Baptist Church from 9:00am to 10:00 am just prior to the service.

 Mrs. Kitchens was born July 21, 1940 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA where she lived most of her life.  As a native of Albany, she attended local schools and graduated from Albany High School in the Class of 1958.

After graduation she began her banking career with Citizens and Southern National Bank and over 30 years later ended her banking career as Operation Officer for First National Bank of South Georgia.

Mrs. Kitchens attended Byne Baptist Church. She served at both Byne and First Baptist Church as an interpreter in the deaf ministry.  She was a member of Esther Lights Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Kitchens enjoyed traveling with the Fabulous Five (four ladies she loved to travel with), she enjoyed line dancing and square dancing. 

Mrs. Kitchens was preceded in death by her mother and father, Margaret McNeil McClelland and Lehron W. McClelland. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael, “Mickey” McClelland and her close and very loved friend Mandell Dorminy.

She is survived by her children, Donna Kitchens Pinson (Hal) of Georgetown, GA, Jeffrey W. Kitchens (Kelly) of Suwannee, GA, Keith E. Kitchens (Jennifer) of Milton, GA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.

 In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Living the Legacy in care of Byne Baptist Church, 2832 Ledo Rd., Albany, GA  31707.
